Act Now to safeguard our rail services!

You may have seen reports in the local press and on Television about the Integrated Kent Franchise recently issued by the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA).

This is the basis on which 4 'preferred bidders' will be making their bids to run train services in Kent from this November.  The problem is, the scope of the services defined could considerably reduce the services from Marden and other stations on the line.

Marden, with Staplehurst, Headcoen and Pluckley are trying to ensure we get the best possible deal and that whoever wins the franchise provides a service far in excess on the minimum required.

Our local M.P is with us and fighting for us all the way.  If you share our concerns, write to her now at:

If you want to know more about the plans, then go the SRA website (which you can pick up from our Links page. Follow the further link to the full (64 page!) document.  You can also e-mail your comments to the Staplehurst Rail Users Forum who are co-ordinating views from the 4 villages. Send your comments via the Staplehurst Village website, again via our links page.   Once there, go to the Latest News section.
