The Millenium Avenue
at Cockle Pond Meadow

On Saturday 4th March 2000 Peter Hall invited all of the organisations in the parish to each freely adopt one of the Red Twigged Lime trees in the Millenium Avenue he has created in Cockle Pond Meadow, by Plain Road. The Avenue was planted using prize money that Peter had been given from winning an Environmental Award sponsored by Marks and Spencer .

There are a total of fifty five trees in the avenue, each numbered - eventually there will be a plaque with the adoptive organisation's name. Not all the trees have been adopted, because Peter is aware of the evolving nature of the village and wants to keep some in reserve for adoption by organisations that do not yet even exist.

Once again we are indebted to Peter for giving Marden, and farming in general, a well needed boost, in difficult times for the agricultural industry. Thanks again Peter.
