Having been a Marden resident for the last twelve years, I would like to help ensure that it remains a good place to live and work in. My job as a civil engineer has given me a good understanding of planning matters and I am particularly concerned about future developments and ensuring that any changes are of benefit to Marden residents and sympathetic to the environment. My wife is a teacher and our two children attend Marden Primary School, where I am a Parent Governor. Between us, we are involved in a wide range of Village activities and organisations. I hope you will give me the opportunity to represent you as a Parish Councillor.

As one of the instigators of Marden 2000, I firmly believe in getting the views of Marden residents heard. I am a Committee Member of the Marden Society; Member of the Working Men's Club and a founder member of the Marden Society History Group. I have been privileged to serve as a Parish Councillor for Marden for the last four years and seek re-election to ensure every opportunity is taken to maintain and improve the quality of life of all Marden residents. I moved to Marden twenty years ago and am now 33. I live with my partner, young son and family. Back to Marden Parish Council

I have lived and worked for the last 34 years at Marden Beech, where I am an apple and strawberry grower on the family farm. I have been a Parish Councillor for 28 years. As a Member of the Planning and Finance Groups, I have taken an active interest in how these aspects affect Village life. I have been involve in forming the new Youth Club, whose progress I shall follow with interest. I am Chairman of the Allen and Maplesden Trust. Maintaining local shops and crime prevention I see as two major concerns. Marden Village is changing fast and I wish to see it move forward and flourish in the new Millenium. I am the only candidate standing from the southern end of the Parish and I think it is important that all areas of Marden are represented in the Council. I would like you to give me the opportunity to continue to serve the Parish. Back to Marden Parish Council

ST CLAIR Diana
2 Cranham Square, Marden, Kent TN12 9TGF • Telephone 01622 832022
I have lived in Marden for the past 18 years, 2 of those as a serving Parish Councillor. I am a member of the Working Men's Club and the Chairman of Chantry Area Action Group and support the young and more mature members of our Parish. I feel it is important to maintain the close knit community that village life brings but, in saying that, I also recognise that there is a need to mix the old traditional village lifestyle with the modern way of life that we all expect today, in order for the Village to survive. If re-elected to the Parish Council, I will contuinue to do and say what I feel is right to preserve the balance of Marden as a Village. Yet, in saying that, I make no false promises and will just continue to be me - what you see is what you get with no one pulling strings from behind the scenes. If you would like to see me returned as a Parish Councillor, please put an 'X' by my name, Diana St Clair, on May 4th. Back to Marden Parish Council

TIPPEN Graham

I again ask for the confidence of your vote at the Parish Council Elections on 4th May. I am particularly concerned about the quality of life for Marden people; crime and Village policing; traffic problems; and retaining local shops. I will also ensure that any future development in the village is critically and carefully considered. I am proud to be a Primary School Governor and am also involved in other amenity matters, in particular the maintenance of public footpaths. If re-elected, I will continue to serve the whole community to the best of my ability.

TIPPLES Peter
Reed Court Farm, Chainhurst, Marden, Kent TN12 9SX • Telephone 01622 820314
I have lived and farmed in the Parish for almost 50 year, so I know the Parish and its surrounds well. As a long standing Parish Councillor and Governor of the Village School, I have always taken a keen interest in Parish matters. I was the prime mover in having Christmas lights in the Village; and was the instigator of the competition for the most 'Christmassy' Village shop, in an endeavour to promote local shopping. I also played a leading part in having the Church Tower floodlit; beside taking a positive role in respect of the Parish's roads. I believe the Parishioners of Marden do not hold complicated views on the future development of the Village, but expect certain basic services, which could be named as: adequate Policing throughout the Parish, a good spread of Village shops including a Bank and Post Office, the continuation of a good School and Medical Centre, a clean and tidy Village, good roads, a satisfactory rural bus service and, finally but not least, less heavy traffic through the Village wherever this is possible. If re-elected to the Parish Council, I will do my best to promote the issues I have raised. Back to Marden Parish Council
