The Woolpack | ||
|
||
Origins of the name For hundreds of years the cloth industry (with wool as its raw material) supported Marden and indeed large areas of Kent. The country's oldest remaining brewer, Shepherd Neame, based in Faversham, used the name often for its pubs - now there are just three - one them near Yalding. A woolpack was a pack or bag of wool weighing two hundred and forty pounds. This aerial view is owned by Nigel Davis whose parents ran the pub in the '70s. Thank you for letting us use it. |
