Following
a Risk Assessment survey arranged by the Medway
River Project we were able to organise a Pond
Clearing morning on Sunday 5 March, 2000 for two
of the ponds on the south side of the Recreation
Field. This is part of the Kent Wildlife
Stepping Stones and Corridors Project.
About
20 people (of all ages) took part in the
clear-up, under the guidance of Eleanor Rees of
the Medway River Project.
In
the end, three truck-loads of rubbish were
collected from the ponds and ditches. Although
there is still work to be done, the
environmental improvement was immediately
apparent. Our thanks to everyone who organised
and took part.
