PADDOCK WOOD AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN
Paddock Wood is launching a review of the town to identify what the
people who live, work and play in Paddock Wood and its surrounding areas
feel would enhance and improve life in the community at large. The
project is part of the Kent Small Rural Towns Programme run by the South
East England Development Agency (SEEDA), and will be run by the people
of Paddock Wood and surrounding areas, for the people of Paddock Wood
and the surrounding areas. Four key topics are being addressed:
a. environment,
b. economy,
c. social and community provision, and
d. transport and accessibility.
There will thus be very few if any community issues that will not be
covered by the project, which is likely to take about a year to
complete. Once the various needs have been identified, a feasibility
study will be carried out and an Action Plan will be drawn up for
implementation. Finance will then be sought from a variety of sources
which may include grants from public bodies including SEEDA, and local
sponsorship.
A Committee has been formed of various people from Paddock Wood and
district, but more people are needed who care about the town and its
surrounding areas to join this exciting project.
If you are interested and would like to be involved please contact the
Chairman of the Committee, Peter Nicholls (Tel: 01892 835773, or e-mail
pesa@nichollspw1.wanadoo.co.uk).
Please don't be afraid of the work
commitment as it will not involve more than a few hours each month.
The project's formal launch is intended to take place at Paddock Wood
Day Centre in Commercial Road on Wednesday 22nd March (5pm-7pm) and
Saturday 25th March (11am - 2pm). Anyone who is interested in learning
more should come to one of these launch events. For those unable to
attend either of these events further information is obtainable from
Peter Nicholls.
